It’s cheaper on Amazon vs. in stores, but even at the higher price it was worth it to me. Sounds good, rarely hear any “fuzz” like other cheap tapes or most FM transmitters, never lost quality over time like I read in other reviews. Buy this, you won’t have to buy another one–at least not for a long time because so far I’ve no issues and I’ve had mine a pretty long time. <3

Love it!
I bought this camera a few days ago and was a little worried I may not like it after reading a few negative reviews. But I have to say it works very well. This camera is very easy to use. I began taking pictures without even reading the instructions yet and had great results. I was taking pictures at a wedding reception with the lights dimmed and all my pictures turned out great with the exception of a few shots where people were moving. I am going to try a different setting next time for that after I read the directions.

Not like my old Sony DSC w170
I purchase the Sony DSC W290 to replace a DSC w170 that I loved but needed repairs of over $100. This is my 7th Sony Cybershot camera. I am obviously a Sony Cybershot fan. This camera is a big disappointment. It does not through the lense view finder which I knew before I bought it but still want. I am very disappointed that Sony no longer offers a pocket size camera with a thru the lense view finder. In bright sun it is very important. The biggest disappoint is the lag time in taking pictures. The DSC 170 was much faster. It allowed me to turn off lots of the automatic functions that slow down digital cameras. The automatic features are nice in some situations but when I am trying to take picture of my grandchildren they often cause me to miss the shot. I am sorry I bought the camera – I should have known that the low price was too good to be true. This camera is probably good for a beginner but not for any one who wants to take pictures of anything that might move. For the price I paid I’m not very impressed
Bought this camera after reading a bunch of good reviews. The truth is the picture quality is not that great. When people are not moving the quality is “ok” at best. But if you try snapping a picture of something that is moving all you get is a blur. My 7mp Kodak took much better pictures at a fraction of the price. Going for the popular name brand was not a smart move.

***UPDATE
Couldn’t take it anymore so I returned the camera and got a Nikon Coolpix. $60 cheaper and much better! Amazon did a great job handling the return. Thanks!

Intelligent Scene Recognition
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects eight different types of scenes conditions (Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a Tripod, Portrait, Landscape, and Macro) and within 1/30th of a second selects the appropriate camera settings. iSCN has 2 modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advance Mode, the camera takes a photo with the standard automatic settings and, in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with optimized setting so you can choose which to keep.

Face Detection technology
Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and controls flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to deliver accurate, natural skin tones with reduced red-eye. It can also give priority to children or adults. Newly added Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and accelerates the shutter speed when facial movement is detected, reducing blur in the subjects face.

Priority Face Selection
Optimizing focus, exposure, and white balance for a specific face is easier now with selectable facial memory, even when the subject leaves the frame. This feature is perfect at weddings and other events the goal is always to focus on a certain person.

Anti-blink Function
It’s frustrating to think you’ve captured that perfect shot, only to review it later and discover one of your subjects blinked just as you pressed the shutter. The Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Red-eye Reductions
Helps reduce common red-eye problems.

Smile Shutter Technology
The popular Smile Shutter technology automatically detects and captures a smiling face. Simply activate by pressing the Smile Shutter button and the camera will capture a smile the moment it happens. You can also select subject priority (Adult or Child Priority or using the cross key buttons on the camera) and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity to high (small smile), medium (laugh) or low (grin). Great substitute of self timer, smile once all are ready and the camera will capture the smile.
